NOTES
  • Contessa hull numbers started at 1 and sail numbers started at 100.
  • When sail number 299 was reached the next sail number was 1201.
  • Sail and hull numbers did not always progress in step due to some boats being bought as kits and finished later.
  • Hull numbers may no longer be present but should be found stamped on a small piece of plywood on the sternpost accessed from the aft deck hatch.
  • A few boats were built by Maclan Marine from 1977
  • A large number of boats with modified upper decks were built by JJ Taylor in Canada under licence.  The Canadian boats had a taller rig and a longer cockpit than the U.K. boats, and they also had a minimal aft deck due to additional cockpit length.
